Tripura CM meets Central ministers

AGARTALA, April 3 - Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today met four senior Union ministers and discussed issues pertaining to the State.

Deb called on Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and requested him to expedite the work on extension of the broad gauge railway line up to the State�s southernmost subdivisional town of Sabroom and also to open a separate railway division for Tripura, besides granting other facilities.

The Chief Minister also held a discussion with Union Minister for Industry and Commerce Suresh Prabhu on the issue of investments in Tripura to address the acute unemployment problem in the State and create requisite infrastructure to set up industries.

Deb�s most important meeting took place with Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. Even though the details of the discussion were not disclosed, it is believed that the Tripura Chief Minister discussed infiltration from Bangladesh, threat posed by fundamentalist outfits and erection of border fencing along a 75-km area.

Deb, who left the State on Monday evening, also called on Union Minister for Road and Surface Transport Nitin Gadkari and discussed some projects related to the State.

Official sources said that a detailed press note would be issued on the Chief Minister�s Delhi tour during the course of which he is expected to meet several other Central ministers including Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. Earlier, the Chief Minister met President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
