Tripura: 10 Covid-19 cases detected in 24 hrs as testing reduced significantly

Agartala, Mar 2: After a lull, Coronavirus has started to rise its wings with the state reported ten positive cases during the past 24 hours, according to official sources. However, experts say, there is no need to panic but the need of the hours is to show the highest degree of discipline and carefulness.

Recently, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who is also the State Health Minister, had cautioned the people saying “Corona-19 pandemic has been contained largely but it has not vanished yet. We must use masks, sanitizer and maintain social distancing to break the chain”, he said.

According to a bulletin, as many as 23 Covid-19 positive cases have been reported in the state during the past one week. In the past 24 hours, the number of positive cases stood 10. Of the total ten positive cases, six are from the state capital.

The infection figures may not be worrisome but the number of Covid tests have been reduced significantly. Only 514 tests were carried out on February 27, 574 on February 26, 547 on February 28 and 277 on March 1.

Covid test has been stopped in MBB Airport, Agrtala railway station and Churaibari Checkgate. Suspension of Covid test in key entry points may be fatal if testing is resumed immediately. Third phase of Covid vaccination programme got underway in the state. In the first vaccination drive, the state registered more than 80 percent immunization among the targeted group.

As a whole, the state witnessed 33,417 Covid-19 positive cases while total fatality stands at 388 till date and recovery rate is 98.91 percent.

At a press conference, Mission Director of National Health Mission Dr. Siddhartha Jaiswal today said the third phase of vaccination programme has already got underway in 39 centres of the state. “There has been no adverse report regarding immunization programme”, he said.
