Tripartite panel reconstituted

GUWAHATI, Sept 9 - The State Government has reconstituted a tripartite committee with representatives of the Government, newspaper management bodies and journalists�/non-journalist employees� unions to ensure and monitor the speedy implementation of the recommendations of the Majithia Wage Board in Assam, said an official press release here.

The committee will have to submit its report on the implementation of government orders on the recommendations of the Majithia Wage Board within one month.

Assam Minister of Water Resources is the chairman, while the State Labour Commissioner is the convener of the committee. The Additional Chief Secretary, Labour and Employment Department, and the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assam, will be members of the committee.

There are 16 members representing management of newspaper houses and nine members representing journalists�/non-journalist employees� associations/unions.

The term of the committee will be for a period of one year from its constitution.

The first sitting of the committee should be held within 30 days from its constitution.

The committee will devise its own procedure of sitting and the venue of the meeting as per convenience.

The Office of the Labour Commissioner, Assam, will render secretariat assistance to the committee, the press release added.
