Trinamool to meet PM on Ponzi fund scams in Tripura

By Prabir sil

AGARTALA, March 2 - In a new twist to the Ponzi fund scams ahead of the next Assembly elections in Tripura, a six-member Trinamool Congress MLAs team would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi very shortly.

As part of follow-up action after a letter of Trinamool Congress president and MLA Asish Kumar Saha around a month ago, an official of PMO reached out to Saha and requested him to contact MoS, PMO Jitendra Singh for meeting with the Prime Minister.

Confirming the development, Saha, who is currently in Kolkata to attend Trinamool Congress Core Committee meeting on Thursday, said, We are requested to contact MoS, PMO Jitendra Singh to fix an appointment with the Prime Minister on the chit fund issue. Hopefully we will meet Modiji very shortly, he stated.

If we get a chance to meet the PM, the party MLA delegation will press for a CBI investigation into Ponzi firms scam which originated in Tripura, he said. The party wants an impartial probe into the scam by CBI and proper compensation of 14 lakh duped depositors. It seems the government is against CBI probe into the scam for unknown reasons, Trinamool Congress State unit president said.

In the meantime, Special Investigating Team (SIT) probing all chit fund related scams has already initiated a process to bring Rose Valley boss Gautam Kundu and his deputy Ashok Saha here to interrogate them. However, the SIT could not do it as Kundu fell sick in Alipur Central Jail in Kolkata but the duo would be brought here in connection with the cases related to Rose Valley.

On the partys Core Committee meeting, Saha said an elaborate discussion took place at TMC headquarters where senior party leaders were present. Partys general secretary Mukul Roy is scheduled to visit Tripura on March 18 to prepare a roadmap for the 2018 Assembly elections. We will do our best to unseat the CPM-led Left Front Government in the coming elections, he added.
