Trinamool MLAs to be taken into BJP fold: Himanta

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, June 23 - Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday indicated that Trinamool MLAs including Sudip Roy Barman would be taken into the BJP fold as per wishes of the partys national president Amit Shah.

Shahs stand on the issue is very clear the fight against the misrule of CPI (M) is not a lone fight of BJP, it has to be fought together with other parties, he said while speaking to media in the party headquarters here.

Significantly, he, however, made it clear that distribution of nomination for MLA seats, awarding portfolios in the party and giving berth in the Ministry was the prerogative of BJPs State unit.

The BJPs national as well as State presidents have already appealed to all parties except the CPI (M) to join the BJP fold, said Sarma, who was on two-day visit to the Marxist-ruled State.

On the presidential election, Sarma said that BJP has no MLA in Tripura but it should not mean that the ballot boxes for presidential election from the State will go empty. I therefore appeal to the six Trinamool and three Congress MLAs to cast their votes in favour of BJP candidate Ram Nath Kovind for the post of President, said Sarma.
