Tribune Servo Colosseum Open Quiz tomorrow

GUWAHATI, Oct 14 � The Assam Tribune Servo Colosseum Open Quiz, 2011 will be held at the Pragjyoti ITA Cultural Complex at Machkhowa here on October 16. The event is being jointly organised by The Assam Tribune and the Social Action Network (an NGO vocal about different social issues in the Northeast).

During the Colosseum Quiz, 2011, 13 quizzing talents will be conferred The Assam Tribune Colosseum Awards, 2010 and they are: Manikut Sarma (Jamshedpur), Manjil P. Saikia (Tezpur University), Deepjyoti Deka (Cotton College), Usha Das (Guwahati), Maharnav Gogoi (Lakhimpur), Sonmani Das (Nalbari), Kamal Medhi (Guwahati), Biswajit Sarma (Nalbari), Priyomjyoti Phukan (Jorhat), Kritartha Sarma (Nalbari), Jahnabi Goswami (Handique Girls' College) Alakananda Medhi (Guwahati) and Dipankar Koushik (Guwahati).

The theme of The Colosseum Quiz, 2011 event is �Culture�. The definition of culture for this quiz fest includes areas like music, dance, fashion, designing, movies, art, sculpture, books, literature, a little bit of history, the cultures of different North-Eastern tribes and cultures in different parts of the world. Even if a question carries information about corporate, sports or science world the question will have cultural element attached to it.

There are more than 1000 audience prizes at stake. The winners will carry home laptops, DVD Players from Bharali Brothers, ITC gift hampers, and hundreds of books which are supported by Assam Book Publishers and Sellers Association. Registration will be on the spot. There is no registration fee. The event is being co-sponsored by Seven Sisters Hospital, Goalpara. Media partner of the event is DY365. The registration for participants will start at 1.30pm, preliminary round will be held at 2pm and the grand finale will start at 3.30 pm. The quiz will be conducted by Prof Dilip Kumar Barua and Neelotpal Deka. The event will be graced by actor Biju Phukan, among other dignitaries, a press release said.
