GUWAHATI, Dec 22 - Sanjoy Ray, Senior Staff Reporter with The Assam Tribune, has been chosen for the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) conducted by the US government.

IVLP is the US Department of States premier professional exchange programme in which the nominated persons experience the country first-hand through short-term visits to the US in a variety of fields and cultivate lasting ties with their American counterparts. Professional meetings reflect the participants professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the US.

Ray, who has been nominated in the media segment, will be attending the programme titled Integrity in Journalism: New and Traditional Broadcast Media, which is scheduled from January 29 to February 12, 2018. The only journalist nominated from the North East this year, Ray will be accompanying a group of six-seven journalists from across India.

Every year nearly 5,000 international visitors go to the US on the IVLP. More than 200,000 international visitors have engaged with Americans through the IVLP, including more than 500 current or former chiefs of state or heads of government.
