Tree plantation drives held

GUWAHATI, Aug 28 - Army Public School, Narangi undertook a tree plantation drive at the Narangi Military Station here. The students planted over 500 saplings from August 25 to 27.

The event culminated with saplings being planted by Major General Jarken Gamlin, general officer commanding of 51 Sub Area and Kenter Gamlin, chairperson of Family Welfare Organisation, and officiating principal Mrinalini Choudhury, teachers, staff and students of Army Public School.

Addressing the students, the general officer lauded the efforts of the school authorities and the children for this noble gesture. He called upon all to be more careful of environmental concerns. He asked the students to spread awareness about a clean environment so that the future generation could live a healthy life.

Gamlin cited the example of Narangi Military Station which is well known for its lush green surroundings. He urged the children to shun use of plastics and desist from littering the surroundings.

Drive by Doctors For Clean Air: The Doctors For Clean Air-Assam & Northeast under the aegis of the Lung Care Foundation and Health Care without Harm, carried out a tree plantation drive recently on the road connecting CK Agarwala Road and GNB Road, said a delayed press release.

Dr MK Baruah, Dr Anjali Baruah, Dr Mridupawan Saikia, advocate KP Pathak, Dr Jeet Patwary, Dr Rajib Sarma, Paresh Das and members from Nemcare Hospital took part in the plantation drive.
