Trains disrupted in Lumding-Badarpur section

GUWAHATI, May 17 - Passenger train service in the Lumding-Badarpur hill section was disrupted today on account of heavy rainfall leading to breach and landslides in many places in the section.

NF Railway PRO Nripen Bhattacharya said that the Silchar-Guwahati Fast Passenger, the Silchar-New Delhi Poorvottar Sampark Kranti Express and the Guwahati-Silchar Kanchajungha Express had to be cancelled.

He said work is going on to restore normal service.

Meanwhile, in an official statement, NFR said that the 25658 Silchar-Guwahati Link Kanchanjungha Express scheduled to leave Silchar on May 18 will remain cancelled between Silchar and Guwahati. It will run between Guwahati and Sealdah.

The 55616 Silchar-Guwahati Fast Passenger scheduled to leave from Silchar tomorrow will also remain cancelled, while the 12502 Poorvottar Sampark Kranti Express scheduled to leave from New Delhi tomorrow will remain cancelled between New Delhi and Guwahati due to cancellation of the corresponding train from Guwahati.

Services in the section had been disrupted for over a week in late April and early this month as well after similar incidents of landslides and heavy rain in the area.
