By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, July 14 - GMDA Chairman Dhiren Baruah along with project engineer of the GMDA Amitabh Borthakur are taking part in a three-day training programme on Water Sensitive Design and Planning: towards sustainable urban development in New Delhi from July 14 to July 16.

Realising the risks of not engaging with water from early stages of urban planning and design, the Centre for Science and Environment has organised the training programme on behalf of the Union Ministry of Urban Development under the capacity building of Urban Local Bodies Scheme.

The training programme aims to address the issues like widening water demand and supply gap, inadequate wastewater treatment, flooding, over exploited aquifers and polluted rivers among others.
