RAHA, Jan 8 - A day-long training programme on �Ornamental Fish Culture and Aquarium Maintenance� was organised under the Scheduled Tribe Community Project at the Training Hall of the College of Fisheries under the Assam Agricultural University (AAU) here recently.
The programme was conducted by the College of Fisheries, Assam Agricultural University in association with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, AAU, Morigaon.
A total number of 30 participants/beneficiaries from the Integrated Agro-farming Development Society with its head office at Barhampur in Nagaon district and branch office at Kapahera in Morigaon took part.
Dr B Kalita, Professor & HoD, Dr DK Sarma, Professor Dr PK Saharia, Assistant Professor and Sangipran Baishya, Assistant Professor from the Department of Aquaculture, College of Fisheries, Assam Agricultural University, attended the programme as resource persons.
The trainees were apprised of various aspects of ornamental fish breeding and culture along with practical class and demonstration on aquarium fabrication and maintenance. The valedictory session was attended by Dr KK Tamuli, Professor & Dean, College of Fisheries.
Dr Tamuli during his address encouraged the trainees to come forward for development of the ornamental fish sector and take up ornamental fisheries as a source of self-employment.
The function concluded with distribution of certificates to the trainees by Dr Tamuli and Dr B Kalita. The vote of thanks was subsequently offered by Paragmani Deka, Subject Matter Specialist (Fisheries) at the Morigaon-based KVK.
