Train mows down 2 differently-abled boys

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Dec 6 - Two differently-abled inmates from a special care school run by an NGO were killed by a moving train near North Lakhimpur on Wednesday afternoon. The two students were identified as Inamul Haq (16), son of Jahur Ali of Phukan Dalani village under Laluk Police Station in Lakhimpur and Rajuwa Pegu (14), son of Khargeswar Pegu of Balijan, Gohpur in Biswanath district and both of them were hearing impaired.

The incident took place near Katahlpukhuri station in Lakhimpur district when the Rangiya-Murkongchelek passenger train ran over them around 3 pm on Wednesday. The victims were reportedly missing from the hostel of the school run by Ranjit Saikia of the Kachajuli Physically Handicapped (Deaf & Dumb) School and Training Centre (Special School & VTC) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India at Kachajuli, Laluk.

However, it is alleged that the boys used to travel to Laluk using the railway track always. The identity of the victims was confirmed on Thursday. The school at Kachajuli in Laluk has been running a special care school for differently-abled students.
