Traffic regulations on account of I-Day

GUWAHATI, Aug 14 - Plying and parking of vehicles will be restricted in and around the Khanapara Veterinary ground on account of the Independence Day celebration tomorrow.

A statement from the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) today said that during the celebration, movement of all heavy commercial goods-carrying vehicles coming towards Guwahati through National Highways 31 and 37 will be regulated as and when necessary at Khetri, Sonapur, Byrnihat, Jorabat, Jalukbari, Amingaon and Bongara.

�Vehicles with red, blue and yellow passes shall be allowed to move up to the Koinadhara point either via GS Road, Khanapara Rotary and NH 37, or via the Assam Rifles building (IG Prison office gate) point and park at the earmarked places. On the other hand, no vehicle shall be allowed entry from the Research Gate point or the Koinadhara point to the Museum point. Again, from the Science Museum point to the Koinadhara point, only the vehicles with red and blue passes will be allowed to enter,� the statement said.

It further stated, �Commercial goods-carrying vehicles will not be allowed to ply on GS Road from Khanapara to Sixmile, and people coming from Dispur, Beltola, Noonmati and Narengi to attend the function without their vehicle passes will be allowed to park their vehicles either at the Ganesh Mandir Indoor Stadium Complex or to bring their vehicles via Sixmile and the Joyanagar Chariali point up to the Assam Administrative Staff College gate. Public coming to the venue by vehicles from the Basistha Chariali side may move via NH-37 up to the Koinadhara point and park their vehicles on the southern service road of NH 37.�
