Traffic regulation in city

GUWAHATI, Nov 16 - The traffic department has imposed certain restrictions on the movement of vehicular traffic in the city during Chhat Puja on November 17 and 18.

The restrictions will be in place from 1 pm till the departure of the devotees from the Puja locations in the evening on both days.

As per the order, no vehicle, except those carrying the devotees, shall be allowed to ply on the stretch of MG Road between Apollo point and Cotton Collegiate School point.

All vehicles, including city buses coming from Bharalumukh side towards Panbazar and Chandmari side, will be diverted at Apollo point towards HB Road via TRP Road or via AT Road. Thereafter, at NB Hall point, these vehicles will have to take a left turn and move via FC Road, Tayabullah Road and GNB Road.

Besides, all vehicles, including city buses coming from Chandmari side towards Panbazar, Bharalumukh and Jalukbari, will be diverted at TC point via District Library, RBI point, Oasis point and thereafter take a left turn at Panbazar overbridge north point towards Panbazar overbridge south point, and ply via AT Road towards Athgoan flyover to Bharalumukh and Jalukbari.

Light vehicles from TC point side via GNB Road towards Panbazar and Fancy Bazar will be diverted via SS Road and HB Road.

All light vehicles from Uzanbazar and Latasil side towards Bharalumukh side will be diverted via BC Road, Tayabulllah Road and GNB Road during the period of the Puja.

All city buses coming from Khanapara towards Bharalumukh and Jalukbari will be diverted via AT Road from Panbazar road overbridge south point.

In addition, all heavy vehicles, including inter-district buses and red coloured rural service buses operating under ASTC, barring buses and vehicles carrying devotees, coming from Jalukbari, shall not be allowed to enter the city. All these vehicles will be diverted via NH 37 at Jalukbari.

Similarly, entry of trucks shall be restricted on November 17 from Lokhra, Gorchuk and Six Mile.

Traffic will be allowed for both ways on the stretch of HB Road from Shani Mandir to Panbazar police point during the Puja period.

Some restrictions have also been imposed with regard to parking of vehicles during the two days.

Vehicles carrying devotees from Bharalumukh side will be allowed to be parked on MG Road from Apollo point to FA Road and MG Road crossing, TRP Road, Lakhi Goli, Chambers Road, MS Road and SRCB Road.

All vehicles will have to be parked inside the field at Sonaram HS School ghat.

There will be no parking zone at AT Road from Bharalumukh to Panbazar overbridge south point from 7 am on November 17.

Parking of vehicles will also not be allowed during the Chhat Puja days on MLN Road, ARB Road, SS Road, SRCB Road and HB Road and TRP Road.

No trucks will be allowed to be parked at TRP Road, Lakhi Goli, Chambers Road, SRCB Road, Kedar Road, MS Road and nearby areas from 7 am onwards on November 17 till the departure of the devotees.

Slow-moving vehicles used by the devotees will be allowed to enter the restricted zone from Sukleswar Ghat.

Puja committees have been asked to engage adequate numbers of volunteers and vehicle users have been requested to avoid peak hours and busy roads during the period.

The vehicle users have also been requested to avoid MG Road and AT Road from 12 noon on November 17.
