GUWAHATI, May 2 � Gauhati Town Club have set up the final date with Ankurjyoti Club in the Bhupen Chandra Mahanta Trophy GSA A Division Cricket Championship.
In the second semifinal, played at the Nehru Stadium here today, Town Club outclassed Navajyoti Club by five wickets.
Calling the coin correctly, Navajyoti opted to bat first but could not reach the expected total on the batting-friendly turf and were all out for 158 in 32 overs. Dhimanjyoti Das ripped through the Navajyoti batting line-up taking four wickets. Arminder Singh Oberoi was Navajyoti�s top scorer with 43.
Town was in trouble at the initial stage losing five wickets for 83. But the unbroken sixth wicket partnership between Sujit Gowala and Deep Bora added 77 runs and took their team to the target in 30.1 overs losing five wickets. Sujit and Deep remained unbeaten on 48 and 24 respectively.
