Town Club clinch GSA cricket title

GUWAHATI, May 3 � By virtue of better run rate Gauhati Town Club beat Ankurjyoti Club by 22 runs to clinch the crown in the GSA A Divison Cricket Championship.

In the rain disrupted summit clash at the Nehru Stadium here today, put into bat Ankurjyoti were all out for 120 in 30 overs.

Town Club were 75 for the loss of three wickets in 17.4 overs when rain forced to stop the game. Town Club was declared winner as per the Guwahati Sports Association rule.

The organisers GSA praised veteran player Deep Bora of GTC for taking part in the meet with laudable performance.

Individual prize winners were: Man-of-the-Tournament and Man-of-the-Final -Nayanjyoti Deka (GTC), best batsman-Rohit Sharma (Akurjyoti), best bowler-Debabrata Roy (Bud CC), best fielder-Parthajit Baishya (Ankurjyoti).

The newly elected GSA president Munin Nobis was the chief guest in the closing function.
