Tourism fastest growing industry: Ibobi

MAPAO ZINGSHO, Sept 27 - Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries with comparatively little capital investment and it has huge potential for faster economic growth and employment generation, Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh said while attending the World Tourism Day observation at this picturesque Tangkhul community inhabited tiny hamlet located about 19 km northwest of Imphal today.

�This village can be developed into an attractive tourist destination if an appropriate ambiance is developed,� he added. For this, the Chief Minister appealed the villagers not to cut down trees in the surrounding hills of the village to conserve its natural beauty and clean environment and also to have good hospitality. The tourists are attracted to places endowed with natural beauties, he observed while expressing happiness over the natural beauty and pollution free environment of the village.

Mapao Zingsho, which lies in Saikul constituency in Manipur�s Senapati district, is said to be one of the cleanest villages in the State.

Acknowledging the grievances of the villagers, the Chief Minister assured to extend help to open an LPG gas agency and construction of a tourist auditorium in the village.

In his speech, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam also appealed for conserving the nature and the greeneries around the village and put all efforts to make the place a beautiful resort.

Chief Secretary O Nabakishore and villager leaders also spoke on the occasion.

Ibobi also inaugurated a �Home Stay� in the village.
