Tough contests in GTC chess

GUWAHATI, Oct 8 - After the usual smooth sailing in the first round, the top seed players faced tough challenge in the second round of the GTC Classic Chess 2016 at Gauhati Town Club today. Mahanrnav Deka of GTC forced third seed Bhogen Singh of Manipur to settle for a draw on the third board while Lohit Gogoi held fifth seed I Sanosaoba of Manipur to a draw on the fifth board. Gunjan Deb also from GTC put up an excellent performance and was able to hold 14th seed Laishram Atembi of Manipur in a king-pawn opening. Arkapravo Rajkhowa drew his game with higher seed Bipin Singh while Ankit Kumar Lahon defeated Ravi Kant Tiwari and Rishita Sinha drew with Ranjit Chutia, stated a press release.
