TURA, June 12 The first day of the two-day Non-Co-operation Movement (NCM) called to demand a CBI or judicial enquiry into the custodial deaths of Balsan S Marak and Witson Sangma by the Garo Students Union (GSU) led to a total shutdown in the Garo Hills today. Even government offices wore a deserted look during the 12 hour bandh.
A group of NGOs, led by the GSU, FKJGP, ADE and AYWO have been demanding for a judicial probe into the custodial deaths.
There were no reports of any incident anywhere and the shutdown has been total, said DC, West Garo Hills Pravin Bakshi.
