Topcem Challenge soccer from today

GUWAHATI, Nov 11 - Topcem Cement will host the 6th edition of the Topcem Challenge Football Tournament which will kick start at the Mini Stadium, North Guwahati tomorrow.

The Topcem funded championship will be organised by the North Guwahati based Rudreswar Ajanta Club. Altogether eight teams of this region will vie for the title in the championship which will be a knock-out affair. The final is slated for November 27.

Dr Anil Kapur, president, Sales and Marketing, Topcem Cement addressing the media said, �It is our social responsibility to promote this sport among the young generation. This is a great opportunity for the young boys and girls to prove their skills in the game of football�. He further revealed that as a special attraction and significant aspect of this year�s tournament an exhibition women football match between Nagaon FC and Boko FC will be organised on November 13. This has been initiated so that the girls can also prove their potential in football.

Shyamal Chamuah, president of Rudreswar Ajanta Club said that the champion team will be awarded a cash of Rs 40,000 while the runners-up team will have to be content with Rs 25,000.

The opening match will be played between Karbi Anglong FC and Goreswar Gatsha. The kick off will take place at 2pm. Other teams participating in the tournament are � Bamundi FC, Alari Afat FC Khoirabari, Krishak United Club, Boko Football Club, North Eastern Zone FCGC CRPF Guwahati and Rudreswer Ajanta Club.

Chamuah also thanked Topcem Cement for sponsoring the meet which will encourage the youngsters of the locality to take the game of football seriously. Members of the organising body Ranjan Boro and Jagdish Boro were also present in the press meet.
