Top agri-scientists honoured by ICAR

GUWAHATI, Feb 27 - A number of top agriculture scientists have been awarded by Indian Council for Agriculture Research (ICAR) in recognition of their contributions in the development of farm sector in the hilly Northeastern region, a pr�ss release stated.

The awards were presented to the scientists by ICAR Director General Trilochan Mohapotro during a two-day farming cum exhibition show at ICAR campus in Barapani.

Swaminathan Award was conferred on BP Bhatt, Director, ICAR Research Complex Eastern Region, Patna while DN Borthakur Award was given to Mrinmoy Dutta and his team.

The agriculture institute also honoured the stalwarts who served in North East. In the exhibition from February 25-27, more than 1,200 farmers from eight States exhibited their products. Interactions and lecture by top agriculture scientists were also conducted.

Speaking on the occasion, the ICAR director general said that ICAR is dedicated to serve the Northeastern region.
