Tokyo Maraks clarification on link to ultras

By Biplab Kr Dey

TURA, March 26 A recent news article in a local daily alleging one Tokyo R Marak as being a part of the (Achik Songna Anchakgipa Kotok) ASAK militant group has drawn strong criticism from Tokyo, who met reporters in Tura to clarify his stand and gave an ultimatum to the person, Kakam R Marak, a businessman from Rongjeng, who accused him, to provide proof of his involvement or face a case of defamation.

Kakam had alleged that Tokyo along with Reding T Sangma and Jack Marak were the main force behind ASAK and were instrumental in demanding an amount of Rs 10 lakh from him. Tokyo hit back saying that the allegations were completely baseless and he was not in any way involved with the group.

He (Kakam) has defamed me by saying that I have been involved with the ASAK group and have been one of the main people behind the group. If he has any proof of my involvement in any way, he should come forward and show it to me. He cannot just throw stones and expect people to believe him. I hereby give him three days to come up with proof of my involvement, failing which I am going to lodge a case against him, said Tokyo.

Meanwhile, Mingran T Sangma (who is alleged by the GNLA to be one of the main persons behind the formation of ASAK) has come up with a sensational statement where he listed people, which includes the whole ASAK team, as well as MLA Rophul S Marak, who are now the targets of the GNLA.

According to him, the GNLA is set to wipe out ASAK and any of its supporters for breaking up from the group itself. He alleged the recent killing of Servison R Sangma in Williamnagar, which the GNLA team had said was accidental, was not accidental at all. He alleged the killing had been thought off and planned accordingly. Mingran further said that the GNLA was now targeting all the other members of ASAK to systematically kill them, which included Reding T Sangma and senior cadres Jack Marak as well as Tokyo R Marak, who has categorically stated he is not a part of ASAK.
