BADARPUR, May 5 � Drastic situations often merit drastic measures.Taking a cue from the above, Vishwa Hindu Parishad international executive president Praveen Bhai Tagodia suggested forcible occupation of a sizeable portion of Bangladesh by the Indian Army prior to deporting lakhs of infiltrators residing illegally in our country to that particular portion of Dhaka�s territory.
Addressing mediapersons at Gobindabari here at Ashram Road on Saturday, the VHP president observed as above while seeking a way to rid Assam, nay India, of the silent but unabated infiltration by lakhs of Bangladeshis since decades now. The Bangladeshi exodus has not only drastically changed the demographic pattern of districts situated along the Indo-Bangla border, but also posed a serious security threat to the nation, he justified. As all conceivable ways till date to check illegal influx from the neighbouring country have failed miserably, hence the above suggestion, he clarified.
Assisted by their agents, the illegal infiltrators from Bangladesh had over the years covertly migrated and disappeared among the masses all over India, he said, thus compounding the problem even further. Taking a dig at successive governments at the helm of power for virtually turning a blind eye to this burning issue in the hope of narrow electoral gain, the VHP leader accused a section of politicians for being fully involved in the conspiracy to destabilise the nation.
Criticising the appeasement policy of the UPA Government towards the so-called minority community, Togadia called for formation of a Hindu vote bank on the lines of their Muslim counterpart. Advocating declaration of India as a �Hindu Rashtra�, he also sought identification of such agents in society who covertly worked on behalf of not-so-friendly neighbouring nations in order to further their own agenda while residing and working in India.
Citing instances of atrocities committed on Hindus in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in recent years, Tagodia appealed to the Hindus to unite and wage a collective struggle in order to wrest their due and live a life of dignity. Hindus living within the country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari too were living in a state of insecurity, he claimed.
Urging the Central Government to strongly impress upon the concerned nations to forthright stop atrocities on innocent Hindus, the VHP leader asked the Government to grant refugee status to victims of such atrocities on humanitarian grounds.
Later, addressing a citizens� meet at the District Library here, Tagodia called for a cautious approach with Bangladesh in the light of that nation�s policies in regard to population control and approach towards migration of her subjects across the international border.
It may be mentioned that the VHP leader was on a two-day visit to Barak Valley, following which security was tightened.
