Tinsukia in control

GUWAHATI, Feb 28 � Tinsukia took a 26-run first innings lead against Karimganj in the low scoring Elite Group Senior Inter District match for the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy.

On the first day of the two-day group league match at Nehru Stadium here today, smashing Karimganj for 102 in their first innings, Tinsukia gathered 128 for eight at stumps.

Only three Karimganj batsmen, Ullaskar Das (24) and Prasant Sarma (23) and Nupur Choudhury (10), could reach double figures as other batsmen feel cheaply. Tinsukia bowlers Pankaj Tamuly, Moqbul Hussain took four and three wickets respectively while Vicky Singh scalped two. Chasing the small first innings target, Tinsukia batsmen were also in trouble losing wickets at regular intervals. Rupjyoti Das was the chief wrecker for Karimganj with four wickets.
