Tinsukia district NCSC meet concludes

DOOMDOOMA, Oct 3 - The 23rd two-day meet of Tinsukia District National Children Science Congress (TDNCSC) was held recently on Borgaon ME and High School premises, Barekuri, under the auspices of Barekuri Anchalik Yuvak Sangha.

The meet was inaugurated by the principal of Tinsukia College, Dr Bhuban Gogoi. The inaugural session, held under the presidentship of TDNCSC president Jiten Sharma, was also addressed by the general secretary of Bharat Jana Bigyan Yatra, Assam, Dr Manoj Patwari, general secretary of Tinsukia district High School Teachers� Association, Gajendranath Moran, and the general secretary of Tinsukia district committee of All Assam ME Teachers� Association, Lohit Saikia.

The annual magazine of TDNCSC Bigyan Bithika was inaugurated by the principal of Doomdooma College, Dr Prakashjyoti Borthakur. The souvenir published on this occasion was inaugurated by eminent Assamese writer Sarat Chandra Chiringphukan.

The TDNCSC coordinator, Diganta Kumar Bhajani, presented the annual report of the TDNCSC. Earlier, flag hoisting and oath taking ceremony were held. Bravy Dutta of Radhakrishnan Academy, Kakopothar, and Himangshu Saikia of Phillobari ME School gave oath to the participants.

After the inaugural session, participants presented their projects on this year�s focal theme �Understanding weather and climate� and six other sub-themes under the supervision of TDNCSC Academic Committee vice-president Dr Meena Devi Baruah and district academic coordinator Manoj Dutta.

The second day�s programme started with tree plantation which was followed by Meet the Scientist programme. Eminent inventor Uddhab Bharali participated in the programme and interacted with the students and the public.

In the afternoon, a valedictory programme was held. The curator of Jorhat Planetarium, Dr Pranabjyoti Chetia, the secretary of National Children Science Congress, Assam, Dhirendra Kr Gogoi, the Tinsukia District High School Teachers� Association president, Kushal Saikia, Tinsukia District ME Teachers� Association president, Kalyan Borah and several others were present in the event.

In the meet, 12 projects were selected to represent Tinsukia district in the state-level meet to be held at Titabar from October 29. The selected participants are � Latu Gogoi (Kailashpur ME School), Diki Sonowal (Dangari HS School), Urmila Chetia (Borgaon High School), Nikhil Ranjan Das (Mechaki ME School), Ankita Saikia (Phillobari ME School), Banani Das (Baruahola ME School), Tarujyoti Borgohain (Anthem ME School, Margherita), Bagmita Das (Budding Buds Senior Secondary School, Tinsukia), Priyanka Baidya (Makum Railway Girls� High School), Biswajit Gogoi (Shantipur ME School, Sadiya), Premika Minj (Satbhani Jatiya Vidyalaya, Talap) and Tinkumoni Borah (Kailashpur ME School).

The guide teachers of these 12 projects were also felicitated in the valedictory programme. The prizes of the district-level science model competition, organised on this occasion, were also distributed among the winners in the valedictory programme.
