Tinsukia district journalists register protest against CAA

DOOMDOOMA, Dec 22 - Journalists of Tinsukia district too joined the ongoing anti-CAA protest in the state.

Members of Tinsukia District Journalists� Association (TDJA) along with other like-minded organisations participated in the anti-CAA rally on Saturday.

Organised under the aegis of Joint Forum Against CAA-2019, the rally began from Rongpuria-Jyotinagar and culminated at the ITI Field at Borguri.

Led by Tinsukia branch of Asam Sahitya Sabha, Jyotinagar Basinda Sangtha and TDJA, more than 5,000 people joined the protest march by holding placards and banners, besides shouting slogans.

Mediapersons representing eight press clubs, namely Sadiya, Doomdooma, Tinsukia, Digboi, Margherita, Saikhowa, Kakopathar and Makum joined the protest rally.

In the meantime, a team of around 15 people from Dirak area along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border started a protest march against CAA to Dispur on foot on Friday from Dirak Gate. The team reached Doomdooma on Saturday evening and left for Tinsukia on Sunday morning.
