TINSUKIA, Nov 29 - Under the aegis of Tinsukia Zila Sahitya Sabha, Sadou Tinsukia Chatra Santha and Tinsukia Development Authority, Tinsukia National Book Fair will be held at the Chaliha Nagar field here from December 1 to 8.
Addressing the media on Saturday at the proposed book fair venue, the organising committee spokesperson disclosed that there would be an interactive session between the Asam Sahitya Sabha central committee office-bearers and the students� community about the future plans of the Sabha.
Besides cultural functions in the evenings from December 1 to 6, the daily programmes will include different items like celebration of Asom Divas, women�s programmes, �Aakash� on December 2, Kavi Sanmilan on December 3, art and �Rongali� competition on December 4, interactive session �Ontaranga Aalap� with the students� community on December 5, children�s programme �Kunhi� on December 6 and competitions on quiz and extempore speech on December 7.
Several publishing houses of the North East, including West Bengal, and some prominent book traders will participate in the book fair, as stated by the organising committee. The press meet was attended by president Dr Girish Handique, executive president Md Tarique, Taranga Malla Barua and Manoram Boaru, joint secretaries, Pulak Chetia, vice president of All Assam Students� Union, besides other office-bearers of the committee.
