Tinsukia beat Advocates XI in veterans� cricket

TINSUKIA, March 5 - Hosts Tinsukia registered a convincing victory of 80 runs against Advocates XI in their match of 9th Veterans� Inter District and Inter Institution Invitational T-20 Cricket Tournament for the Madhurjya Prasad Barooah and Badan Ch Saikia Trophy.

Owing to bad weather conditions, the match had to be curtailed into a 15 overs a side affair. Put in to bat, Tinsukia managed a total of 151 runs for the loss of three wickets in their stipulated overs with Bijon Dutta smashing 100 off just 59 deliveries. Dutta�s innings featured 11 hits to the fence and four over the ropes. Gautam Tahu was the other notable contributor with 28 runs while Prasanta Kalita scalped two wickets conceding 17 runs in his three overs.

In reply, Advocates XI could only manage 71 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their stipulated overs. Devajit Saikia scored 18 runs while Atal Tiwari chipped in with 15 runs. Narendra Prasad picked up three wickets giving away four runs in his three overs.

In another match, Sivasagar entered the quarterfinals by virtue of the spin of the coin after rain ruled out play against Naharkatia.
