GUWAHATI, April 24 In a heroic and timely action, the EME Battalion of the Army came to the rescue of a civil transport bus which had been hit by a boulder. The incident occurred near Wak when the bus carrying 12 passengers was enroute from Kaying to Along in Arunachal, a Press release said.
Due to heavy rains the night before, a huge boulder had slid down and hit the bus. A team of EME Battalion swung into action and recovered the vehicle. Two passengers trapped were timely rescued and admitted to a local hospital. After toiling for hours, the Army was able to recover the vehicle which had skidded off the road due to the impact.
With a large number of recovery missions in the area this year, the EME Bn has been instrumental in saving precious lives, clearing narrow roads and maintaining continuous flow of traffic.
