Three students from Golaghat secure ranks

DERGAON, June 1 - A festive environment was seen in Golaghat district following three candidates securing ranks in the Science and Arts streams of the Higher Secondary examinations, the results of which were declared yesterday.

In the Science stream, two candidates from Radiant College, Dergaon, namely Abhigyan Samah Gogoi and Abhipsha Phukan, secured the 7th and 8th ranks respectively while in the Arts stream, Sanchita Saikia from Golaghat Jatiya Mahavidyalaya secured the 10th rank.

Abhigyan, son of Mukul Ch Gogoi and Binita Sarmah, both are teachers by profession, got a total of 474 marks out of 500. He secured 90 in English, 95 in Alternative English, 96 in Biology, 96 in Chemistry, 97 in Mathematics and 92 in Physics.

On the other hand, Abhipsha, daughter of Jyotirmoy Phukan and Jyoti Rajkhowa Phukan, got 473 marks out of 500. She secured 93 in English, 98 in Assamese, 92 in Physics, 96 in Biology, 94 in Mathematics and 86 in Chemistry.

Talking to this correspondent, Juri Devi, Principal of the College, expressed her satisfaction over the maiden rank holding result. The Principal also gave credit to the teachers, students and guardians for the success.

Devi informed that Priya Nath, another student of the College, could not secure rank only for four marks.

Talking to this correspondent, Abhigyan, who studied for 12-14 hours daily, said he is planning to study Chemistry at Tezpur University. On the other hand, Abhipsha, who studied for 12-13 hours daily and also took part in co-curricular activities, is trying to get admitted either in Engineering or Medical.

Both the students attributed their success to the efforts of their teachers and parents in particular and Principal Juri Devi in general.

Meanwhile, Sanchita Saikia of Golaghat Jatiya Mahavidyalaya secured the 10th rank in Arts stream. She secured a total of 476 marks out of 500. The elder daughter of farmer Kusheswar Saikia and Deepa Bora Saikia of Moutgaon Kamarbandha in Golaghat, she studied for 6-8 hours daily and attributed her success to the teachers as well as the managing director of the College, Biswajit Phukan. Sanchita is now planning to study Degree course.
