Three abandoned children including infant girl rescued

NAGAON, July 9 - Nagaon Police in association with Childline, Nagaon today rescued three children of ages around 3 to 5 years, including a three-month old infant baby girl from two separate spots � in Nagaon town and from its outskirts.

As per the directives of the District Child Welfare Society, Nagaon, the rescued children were sent to the Special Adoption Agency, which is being run under the Assam State Child Protection Society at the headquarters of the Sadou Asom Gramya Puthibharal Sanstha in Nagaon.

According to sources, a three-month-old baby girl was abandoned on the lap of a patient at Nagaon BP Civil Hospital today and the baby was subsequently rescued by the police in association with Childline, Nagaon. Meanwhile as per directives of the District Child Welfare Society, Nagaon, the baby was handed over to the authority concerned of the Special Adoption Agency of Sadou Asom Gramya Puthibharal Sanstha, Nagaon for special care.

On the other hand, two children, one a five-year-old girl and another a boy of around three years respectively were seen wandering near the Uriagaon bypass chariali by some local people of the locality. The latter picked up the children and immediately handed them over to Itachali Police. The two children were also handed over to the same adoption agency for adoption as well as care. Sources said that the concerned adoption agency had already conducted the health check-up of the children and it was ascertained that the baby as well as older children were hale and hearty.
