Thousands visit Book Fair

GUWAHATI, Nov 4 - The All Assam Publishers and Book Sellers Association, organisers of the 21st North East Book Fair, has expressed satisfaction with the response the book fest is receiving from the readers.

The fair has witnessed a footfall of more than 50 thousand people so far. Though the entry of visitors was restricted to some extent due to the visit by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on the first day of the fest, in the next three days a good number of people visited the book fair and books worth more than Rs 30 lakh have been sold so far.

The event will continue till November 12.

The organisers also informed that Assamese books are recording the highest sale at the book fair and if the trend continues, it will be a very positive development for the publishing industry of Assam and also for Assamese writers.

Meanwhile, taking part in an interactive session at the book fair on Sunday, singing sensation Zubeen Garg urged the visitors to buy at least one Assamese book.
