Thousands throng Naptipara Buddha Purnima festival

NALBARI, May 11 - Thousands of people thronged the Naptipara Gop Gopalthan Mandir near Jagara in Nalbari district on the occasion of Buddha Purnima on Wednesday.

The devotees on the day of Buddha Purnima tied gamoochas on the large ahot tree to fulfil their wishes. They also offered prayers to Lord Buddha under the tree. The devotees from various lower Assam districts rushed to the Gopalthan on the day. On the occasion, a religious procession with the participation of dhulia, khulia and a nagara naam party was taken out in the locality.

A religious meeting was also held with Lakshi Patowary, a social worker in the chair.

The Buddha Purnima festival was celebrated with a two-day programme.
