JORHAT, Oct 4 - Trying to woo thousands of voters for their own victory in 2016 Assembly election both the ruling Congress and BJP today engaged themselves in blame games at two premises at Titabor where about thirty thousand members and supporters of the two national political party thronged.
Though the meeting at Rajib Gandhi Sports Complex was organised by the State Government for distributing various kind of items like threads, tractors and financial assistance it seemed like a party meeting as locals opined that most of the beneficiaries belonged to the Congress supporters and members. The BJP organised their programme as public awareness meeting which was named as Jana Jagaran Yatra.
Criticising the State Government and the local MLA Tarun Gogoi for the lagging behind development in the localities, BJP�s State president Sidhartha Sankar Bhattacharya, Jorhat MP, Kamakhya Tasa and Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed their confidence of winning people�s mandate in the forthcoming Assembly poll.
According to Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister Gogoi, who is also the MLA of Titabor, could not fulfil the dream of development of the people in the last 15 years of his rule.
He said that due to rampant corruption in the government machineries the locals have been deprived of the proper benefit of Rs 100 crore water supply schemes in Titabor. The BJP leaders said that massive corruption will bring unprecedented loss to the Congress party in the election.
However, State Minister Rakibul Hussain, Ajanta Neog, Etwa Munda, Jorhat MLA Rana Goswami and many leaders of the Congress blamed BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for �false promises which he gave during the election campaign in Assam in 2014�.
They said that people would cast their votes in favour of Congress as the voters of the State now lost their trust on Modi and his party.
Several women, who attended the Congress meeting suffered from dehydration during the programme and most of them said that they could not collect threads and other items from the Congress ministers at the rally. Some of them were admitted into the local hospital while some others were rushed to Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH) for better treatment.
