TURA, Nov 6 - Thousands of devotees today thronged the crowded venue of the annual Chhath Puja celebrations in Babupara locality here this evening. Thousands are expected to gather tomorrow to pray to the early morning Sun for blessings.
�Chhath� is a unique festival in the sense that it celebrates the setting Sun along with the rising one and is celebrated a few days after the end of Diwali. The Sun, considered as the God of energy and life-force, is worshipped during the Chhath festival along with his wife, Chhati Mai, to promote well-being, prosperity and progress.
The devotees offer their prayers to the setting Sun, and then the rising Sun in celebrating the cycle of birth and death. The devotees here took a dip in the nearby stream and offered prayers to the setting Sun.
