AZARA, Oct 27 - Although the police have managed to arrest several persons involved in stealing, theft cases are on the rise in and around Azara area for the last couple of months.

Many motorcycles, bicycles and other valuables have reportedly been stolen from several households at Dharapur, Garal, Kahikuchi, Azara, Khanamukh etc., under Azara police station and Borjhar outpost.

Even after regular patrolling at night by the police, thieves have managed to take away the valuables, the local alleged. However, the Azara police have become successful in arresting several thieves from different parts of the area and recovered more than 20 stolen motorcycles and other valuable goods from their possession.

BC Roy, OC of Azara police station, said that there is a shortage of police staff in the area. Besides, due to the existence of several exit routes in the area, the miscreants succeed to flee the spot after the crime, Roy added.

The people in the locality have urged the higher authority to strengthen the police staff at Azara police station and make arrangements for tight security in the area.
