SILCHAR, May 31 - At a time when the seemingly dismal performance in this years High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination has disappointed everyone, Bikram Sutradhar, a student of Public Higher Secondary School in Silchar, has given his poor parents and the people of Barak Valley a huge reason to rejoice with his commendable performance amid difficult times.

Son of Subhash Sutradhar, a carpenter, and Maya Sutradhar resident of Kanakpur Part II Bikram secured 548 marks with 91.6 per cent and Letter marks in all the subjects. My father is a carpenter and work hard to live a sustainable life. I have been given everything I needed for my studies. I want to become a doctor and shall pursue my career with Science, Bikram said.

Interestingly, even as he admitted his lack of interest in politics, he wasted no time to thank Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for introducing free admission processes in the educational institutes. I have no wish to follow politics and dont want to involve in any discussion on this. But I want to thank our Education Minister for coming up with the free admission scheme which will help many like me to receive education and become better citizens of the country. I believe things have improved in the education scenario since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, Bikram added.

He said that he loves reading newspapers and his father encourages him to keep a track of the current affairs. Bikram used to accompany his father as a helping hand and amassed money for his studies.
