Thangal community fest held

IMPHAL, Jan 4 - The Thangal community festival, Ng-Ngee (Angee) Pheo Tangnit, was held at Tumnoupokpi village in Kangpokpi district today, on the first Saturday of the New Year.

Manipur Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen, chairman of the Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Kangpokpi, Haokholal Hangshing, Ambassador of India to the Republic of Cote d� Ivoire, Guinea and Liberia, YK Sailas Thangal, and president of the Thangal Union YK Kaping were present during the festival.

Speaking on the occasion, minister Kipgen stressed that all-round development can be achieved only when people live in peace and harmony irrespective of caste, creed, religion and culture. She said that people should work not only for the welfare of the present generation but also for the future generation.

R-Day meeting at Thoubal: The first monthly district-level officers� coordination committee meeting in connection with the ensuing Republic Day celebrations was held at the DC�s conference hall under the chairmanship of Thoubal DC N Bandana Devi on Saturday.

Issues relating to the Republic Day celebrations were discussed in the meeting, which resolved to hold the official function at the Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School playground in Thoubal.

The meeting was also attended by ADC, Thoubal, L Radhakanta, subdivisional officers and district-level officers.
