Tezpur boy secures 8th rank in AIPMT

TEZPUR, Aug 18 - For the first time in the history of the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), a student from the north-eastern region has been able to grab a position among the top ten rank holders. The AIPMT results were declared on August 17.

Abhigyan Datta, who attended coaching classes at Sajid Khan�s Potential Coaching Institute, Tezpur Centre, did his schooling from Army Public School, Solmara here and is presently studying at the Jawaharlal Institute of Post-graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Pondicherry.

It is pertinent to mention that as part of his journey of success he had cleared the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) in 2013 and Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) � all India � in 2014, securing the 59th rank.

Besides AIPMT, Abhigyan also cleared the Assam CEE medical topping the list, and JIPMER securing the 16th rank this year. His father Dibyajyoti Datta is chief manager of IOC, Guwahati and his mother Dr Chinmoyee Deka Datta is an ophthalmologist and owner of the Tezpur Eye Hospital here.

A resident of Tezpur Deka Baruah Chuburi here, Abhigyan passed his Class X examination under CBSE with 10 CGPA in 2013 and cleared his 10+2 examination from the same school in 2015 scoring an aggregate 96.40 pc marks.

Meanwhile, in a telephonic conversation with this correspondent, Abhigyan�s father said that his success in different examinations including AIPMT, has enhanced the dignity of the region, thereby proving that students from the North-east too can do better in national level competitive examinations.
