Singh was laying the foundation stone of the Lucknow branch office of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) here.

Hailing the achievements of the NIA, Singh said, We have managed to control extremism, terrorism and Maoist activities to a large extent and if it is continued at the same pace, we will get more success in future.

NIA investigates complicated criminal cases... Extremists, terrorists and Maoists have involvement at the global level and so the role of this investigating agency becomes more challenging, he said.

Terming terrorism, extremism and Maoist activities as the biggest challenges faced by the country, Singh stressed on equipping investigating agencies with modern techniques to deal with these security issues.

Criminals today are equipped with modern techniques and so the investigating agencies also have to adopt new techniques, Singh said.

The manner in which the NIA has been working, not only the people of the country but also of the entire world have started believing that it is the best agency working in a professional, unbiased and trustworthy manner, he said.

Referring to the ISIS as a serious danger, he said its activities in the country is almost nil and its main reason is that Indian Muslim families stop their children to adopt this path. PTI
