Terangs call to ex-office bearers

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 23 Asam Sahitya Sabha president Rong Bong Terang today made an appeal to all concerned to use the organizational channel of the Sabha to lodge whatever complaint they have against any Sabha office-bearer.

In a statement here, the Sabha president reminded the ex-presidents and other former office bearers of the Sabha that they are bound to abide by the Sabha constitution, which prevents them from going to the media against any office-bearer of the Sabha central committee and against the Sabha.

If they go to the media on such issues, the Sabha is free to take disciplinary action against them.

However, they can either take up such issues with the Sabha executive committee or raise them, with due permission from the Sabha, in the delegates meetings.

The Sabha president cannot take any action on any matter if a written complaint is not lodged with him, he said.

He described the present developments concerning some of the ex-office bearers of the Sabha as unfortunate.

The Sabha is now busy taking up the issue of exodus of the Assam people with the literary organisations of the South Indian states concerned. It is also preparing for its Barpeta Road session, Sadasya Mahian and Sahityacharya convocations, in instituting the Dr Bhupen Hazarika international integration award and Dr Mamoni Roisom Goswami national award etc.

And the developments concerning the ex-office bearers came at this time, said the Sabha president.
