Terang concerned over inter-state relationship

JORHAT, Sept 21 � Asam Sahitya Sabha president Rong Bong Terang has expressed concern over the present untoward situation prevailing among the north-eastern States of India.

In an exclusive interview, the president of the apex literary body told this correspondent that the ongoing hostile situation should be stopped soon. Otherwise the common people will suffer the most in such a situation.

He further stated that as the president of the Asam Sahity Sabha, he requested the Union Minister of DoNER and Mines BK Handique to look into the matter and take necessary action to save the situation so that the age-old harmonious co-existence between the two States prevails before it is going to be too late. Handique also assured him to discuss about the situation prevailing between the States over the Pholongoni incident and its aftermath with the Chief Minister of Nagaland tomorrow at a meeting to be held at Dimapur.

He said that Asam Sahitya Sabha has been trying to create integrity among the different communities of these States of the north-eastern region. At such a time, the incidents at Pholongoni of beating of the AASU activists by Nagaland Police personnel and the subsequent staging of economic blocked on Nagaland by AASU have greatly worried the Sabha president.
