KOKRAJHAR, Jan 23 � Tension prevails in and around Kokrajhar following the attack on a motorcycle rally taken out by the BPF�s youth wing by some minority community youths at Monakosha village in Kokrajhar district today at about 2:30 pm.
According to sources, some minority community youths attacked the motorcycle rally with lethal weapons and damaged a number of vehicles, besides injuring some Youth BPF members. Soon after the incident police rushed to the spot and controlled the situation. Four youths were arrested in this connection.
Terming the incident as most unfortunate, Mono Kumar Brahma, president of the Youth BPF said that it was a planned attack on the party activists.
It may be mentioned here that the youth wing of the BPF today took out a huge motorcycle rally in Kokrajhar district in protest against the killing of five individuals belonging to the Hindi-speaking community at Ramfalbil in Kokrajhar on January 18.
The motorcycle rally started from Debargaon High School field and passed through the remote areas like Karigaon, Ramfalbil, Dotma, Fakiragram, Salakati, etc., of the district with placards, posters and banners. The protesters also shouted slogans against the NDFB(S). Later, the rally gathered at the DC office, Kokrajhar. The youth wing of the BPF also submitted a memorandum to the Union Home Minister and others through the DC, Kokrajhar.
Besides Brahma, MLA Pradip Kumar Brahma, BTC MCLA Doneswar Goyari among others joined the rally.
