DIBRUGARH, Nov 24 - Dibrugarh MP Rameshwar Teli has tendered his apology for his controversial comment in which he had said that Homen Borgohain, eminent writer and journalist had received Rs 15 lakhs from the Congress party to return the Sahitya Akademi Award.
In a press statement, Teli said his utterances during a press meet that �recipients of Sahitya Akademi awards had taken Rs 15 lakhs from the Congress to return the awards� has been taken back.
The Dibrugarh MP reportedly called up Homen Borgohain over phone and apologised.
Our Staff Reporter adds: Meanwhile, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) condemned the statements made by Teli as derogatory.
