Team AOD celebrates 116th Digboi Refinery Day

DIGBOI, Dec 11 - �It is a matter of great pride that with excellent all-round performance in 2016-17, probably for the first time in stand-alone basis, Digboi Refinery has made good profit in spite of minimum crude received from Oil India. With exemplary performance in the current year as well, we are going to have further enhancement of refinery profit figures. The recent exemplary achievements were made possible by continuous �Innovation and Will� to do the best by all employees of our refinery. Optimization and improvement is a continuous process and if we are able to show such performance year after year, then definitely this refinery will survive for ever, even in competitive areas in the years to come,� said Mritunjoy Pramanik, Executive Director (AOD) during his address at the formal function held to commemorate the 116th Digboi Refinery Day. Pramanik also thanked the former employees of IOCL (AOD) on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the AOD fraternity observed the 116th Digboi Refinery Day with pride and enthusiasm here this morning with a day-long agenda of various activities. It may be mentioned here that the Digboi Refinery was commissioned on December 11, 1901. This momentous day was cherished distinctively with the revamp and transformation of a jungle area into a safe lush green park for the residents.

The team of dignitaries led by Pramanik ED (AOD) also inaugurated a mini park beside creating a new landmark in the history of Oiltown Digboi with the installation and unveiling of a �Monumental Motorcycle� made up of numerous redundant spares which were retrieved from various departments of Digboi Refinery and general workshop and the motor garage.

A formal function was also organised in the Golden Jubilee complex wherein the AOD, employees gathered for a �Thanksgiving & Pledge� function and respectfully remembered the pioneers as well as all other ex-employees of Digboi Refinery, because of whose hard work and limitless sacrifices, Digboi Refinery completed its long and proud journey of 116 years since December 11, 1901. The employees pledged to dedicate themselves to working towards retaining the glory of the historic Digboi Refinery, to sustain its progressive growth and towards overall development of India and IndianOil.

An important action on the agenda of this formal function was the felicitation of the erstwhile heads. Mritunjoy Pramanik, ED (AOD) in presence HS Dutta, CGM (TS&HSE), Sukla Mistry CGM(T), Sunand Pandey, CGM (Vig.), senior officials, heads of the collectives and employees accorded a felicitation to PL Barua, Ex-ED (AOD) and former officials of collectives KK Bhattacharjee and Dulal Kumar Bordoloi.

The invited dignitaries were given a traditional honour and presented with a plaque and a citation. Earlier, AK Tamuli, General Manager, I/C (HR), gave the welcome address and the AOD Choir presented the Digboi Refinery song. The students of Assam Oil School of Nursing also presented a dance performance along with a satriya dance performance by an invited group. BC Nath, Joint Secretary, AOCLU offered the vote of thanks.
