Teachers� training workshop organised

GUWAHATI, April 1 � Regional Science Centre, Khanapara in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology, Government of Assam, Assam Science Technology and Environment Council, Govt of Assam, Department of Education, Govt of Assam, Gauhati University, University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya and B Barooah College, organized a five day-long State-level teachers� training workshop recently, stated a press release.

The programme was attended by 150 teachers from 26 different districts of Assam. The inaugural function was chaired by Prof OK Medhi, Vice-Chancellor, Gauhati University, while Prof S K Choudhury, Vice Chancellor, University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya, presided over the function. Anurag Goel, Commissioner and Secretary, Department of S&T and IT was special guest of honour H Dutta, Direcetor, Assam Science Technology and Environment Council, was also present on the occasion.

During the programme 15 resource persons from all over India, imparted useful training to the teachers. On the final day, teachers were taken on a educational trip to Pobitora wildlife sanctuary, where the participating teachers were trained in various aspects of water and soil testing techniques. All the teachers were gifted with set of DVDs on experiment techniques in Chemistry by Prof Pannalal Goswami, Cotton College, Guwahati. On the final day, teachers were given certificates of merit.
