Teachers� training programme

GUWAHATI, Dec 17 - A two-day teachers� training programme �Inspire�, organised by Heartfulness Institute at the Heartfulness Meditation Centre here, concluded today.

Heartfulness Institute is a non-profit organisation with a global presence across 130 countries. The Institute offers diverse programmes for various sectors and different age groups towards self-development through meditation.

With an objective of creating a conscious learning environment through heartfulness techniques, the programme enabled the teachers in making the learning joyful for the students. It employed diverse activities and inquiry-based heart centred pedagogy to inspire the teachers to achieve the fundamental purpose of education.

The sessions included value education, life skills, improving emotional quotient through focus on spiritual quotient, the scientific rationale behind a heart-centred approach in education, etc. to cater to the demands of the current day education scenario.

Mentored by a dedicated team led by a national faculty of over 35 years of experience from Chennai and Kolkata, the training programme was attended by participants from eight schools based in the city.

The resource persons for the programme included Nirmala Sundaram, educationist and renowned teachers� trainer, Dr Shamala S Krishna, an expert on value education and a member of the National Curriculum Framework 2006, and Leena Dave, social worker and educationist.

The schools that attended the programme include Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti, SB Deorah College, North East Public School, Pan Bazar Girls� High School, Sai RNS Academy, Mother Ayesha English High School and Wonder Kids Montessori School.
