Teachers shuttling between poll and census duty

By Correspondent

MUSHALPUR, April 3 Along with the rest of the State census operations began in Baksa district from April 1. A total of 1925 enumerators and 321 supervisors are in the field while 193 enumerators and 32 supervisors have been kept in reserve.

The villages will be divided into blocks each with a population of 650 against one enumerator. The process of house listing and collecting data for National Population Register will be completed within 45 days from the beginning of census. The training for the enumerators and supervisors was held on March 26 ,27 and 29 last in Baksa district.

This census bears special importance for Baksa, Udalguri and Chirang people as these districts are going for census for the first time as separate districts curved out after creation of BTAD. Meanwhile, Baksa district administration has provided pamphlets to the gaonburahs for distribution among the public with a view to creating awareness for cooperation to the enumerators during census.

However, the parallel duty of enumerator as well as polling personnel in the BTC poll has left the teachers of BTAD at sea.
