Teachers must dedicate themselves to nation building: Goswami

TEZPUR, Sept 6 - Stating that the relationship between a guru and a sisya should be like the relationship between a parent and his or her child, Pitambar Deva Goswami, Satradhikar of Majuli�s Auniati Satra, urged the teachers to dedicate themselves to the process of nation building.

Goswami who attended a special felicitation programme organised in connection with the Teacher�s Day at Tezpur College here also said that teachers are the architect of students� lives.

�Getting the blessing of a good teacher brings ultimate satisfaction and peace of mind in a student�s life. Teachers also can make the students� mind innovative,� Goswami added.

He said teachers should be the role model and give a right direction to the lives of their students.

In the programme, altogether 55 teachers from different parts of the district were awarded.

The event held under the aegis of Biswanath DC Dhiraj Jyoti Kalita was attended by local MLA Brindaban Goswami, among others.

A special programme Matir Akhora presented by a group of children from Majuli mesmerised all present on the occasion.

Teacher�s Day at Pathsala MV School: On the occasion of the Teacher�s Day, Pathsla MV School under Bajali block of Barpeta organised an inaugural ceremony of the newly-established library and the students� wall magazine, stated a press release.

Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Apurba Kumar Nath inaugurated the library.

Parag Barman, Assistant Professor of Bajali College, inaugurated the school wall magazine put up by the students of the school.

The teachers of the school also donated books and around 50 books were collected through this drive.

The headmaster and the teachers of Pathsala MV School, during the event, also raised some issues being faced by the school like cleanliness of the school campus and construction of toilets.

Himangshu Roy, president of the Pathsala Township Committee, gave assurance to help the school authorities in all possible ways.

Teachers felicitated at Kaliabor: At a simple function organised at Pachim Pubtharia High School on the occasion of the Teacher�s Day under the aegis of the Kaliabor Central Students� Union, felicitation was offered to Debendra Nath Mahanta, retired principal of Kaliabor HS School; Pahal Thapa, retired professor of Kaliabor College; Narendra Nath Hazarika, retired principal of Kaliabor College; Bodhomai Devi, retired headmistress of 8 no. Dalgaon lp School and Promod Borua of Paschim Pubtharia High School.

The function was chaired by Atul Sarma, an assistant teacher and inaugurated by Manimadhab Mahanta, an AASU leader. Nabin Borthakur, secretary of the Kaliabor Sahitya Sabha, participated as appointed speaker while Hem Muktier, a retired headmaster, attended the programme as the distinguished guest.

Inaugurating the function, Mahanta disclosed the importance of the Teacher�s Day and offered his regards to all the respected teachers. All the teachers were felicitated with a gamusa, seleng sadar, japi, a book and a scroll.
