Teachers� Day celebrated

GUWAHATI, Sept 5 � Teachers� Day was celebrated across the State today in a befitting manner. Teachers were felicitated and tributes were paid to the late Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary which is observed as Teachers� day.

In the city too, educational institutions celebrated the occasion in an elaborate manner.

The West Guwahati Students� Union on Monday felicitated the principals of seven colleges in keeping with Teachers� Day celebrations.

The teachers were Dr Bhubaneshwar Bora of Pandu College, Dr Jyotish Goswami of West Guwahati Commerce College, Dr Nishikanta Deka of Lalit Chandra Bharali College, Gauri Devi, principal-in-charge of Pragjyotish College, Dr Balendra Kumar Das of West Guwahati College, Dr Rabindra Nath Das of Kamakhyaram Baruah Girls� College, Dr Babita Choudhury, principal-in-charge of Radha Govinda Baruah College and Dr Bivash Chandra Das Purkayastha, former principal of Pandu College.

Teachers� Day was also observed at the Ulubari HS School campus under the aegis of the school�s alumni association. Teachers were accorded a warm felicitation on the occasion at a meeting held under the presidentship of Ditul Baruah, an alumnus, a press release said.
